Accelerator Secret Sauce Includes Community & Mentorship
With 12 out of 14 accelerator weeks complete, XI 2019 Accelerator Demo Day is right around the corner.
Our 2019 XI Accelerator feels nothing short of flying at the speed of light. This year, we welcomed seven teams to the program, an increase built off 2018’s success with four startups. The 2019 XI Accelerator class is diverse. Ventures range from a blockchain platform to simplify the carbon offset market to cybersecurity EdTech platforms targeted at filling the cybersecurity workforce gap.
Cultivating community engagement
Two focal points this year were community engagement and mentorship.
We made a greater investment in connecting with the Colorado Springs community. Our weekly happy hours with the XI Accelerator teams and XI mentors helped develop deeper bonds with local tech and startup ecosystems. These relationships built “social capital” with professionals from investors to technologists, and everything in between.
It’s no secret more people are discovering and moving to Colorado Springs. XI networking opportunities and programming are sometimes the first introduction newbies have to our growing startup environment.
The talent, expertise and experience in Colorado Springs is enormous. In 2019, XI’s second year, we worked to widen our mentor network. XI mentors are fully and professionally invest in our accelerator teams, and these connections allow program entrepreneurs to learn more about the resources available. Most if not all the mentors and teams have developed relationships that will extend well beyond their XI Accelerator experience.
The XI mentor network keeps growing, and we’re proud that system of professionals stretches across the U.S., as well as industries and positions.
