Peak Three: Health and Wellness
Holistic health means physical, mental, and social wellness. By focusing on a well-balanced approach to renewal and growth, people come first.
This week, we sat down with Betsy Brown to hear more about our third peak, Health and Wellness. Betsy is the co-founder and a board member at Exponential Impact.
How have you seen and worked with Health and Wellness while at XI?
At XI, we are focused on the whole person (mind, body and spirit), and we incorporate health and wellness throughout the Accelerator. We integrate a wealth of health and wellness sessions into our robust curriculum. These include beautiful Colorado hikes, an introduction to mindfulness, meditation, yoga and tai chi, care for emotional health, and nurturing relationships.
How do you think a startup applying for our 2020 accelerator program should embrace Health and Wellness?
A startup can only be as healthy as its founders. If the leader of any organization neglects their physical and emotional health, it will ultimately affect the whole company. We holistically support our founders so they can thrive at work but more importantly thrive in life.
Share a bit more about yourself. Has Health and Wellness influenced your life in other ways?
I have always been interested in health and wellness, and as a therapist I sat across from too many people who ignored their physical and emotional health. I personally try to get outside and hike as much as possible, and I incorporate yoga into my weekly routine. I also practice meditation and try to eat a plant-based diet, as much as possible. I find that when I am taking care of myself, I feel better. I have more energy and can show up for my family, friends, and coworkers in ways that advance the cause and bring joy.
